Database update

Users of the PsycINFO database will notice some changes in the search page. PsycINFO is now using the ProQuest search interface. The new interface retains all the functionality of the former search page. It should also be helpful to students because it is similar in design to the EBSCO interface used by many other popular databases.

In addition to a familiar look and feel, the new interface offers specialized search options specific to PsycINFO, and access to over thirty other databases. You can search multiple databases at once, although this method disables some of the specialized options. You can see the list of customized search forms to the right.

The new ProQuest interface is used in the following databases:

Pardon our dust

The University Library System will be upgrading our circulation management system over the week of June 24 - 29. During that time, some of the functions in PITTCat will be unavailable. According to the Information Technology Department:
Patron-initiated OPAC transactions (renewals/requests) will be de-activated at midnight on Thursday, June 21st, 2012.  This includes renewals, requests of all types, saved searches, viewing of the patron's library record, and any other activities available through the 'My Account' and 'Place Request' functions in PITTCat.  The 'My Account' and 'Place Request' buttons will be removed from PITTCat during the upgrade and will not be available again to patrons until the migration is complete on or before June 28th.
We appreciate your patience during this time.
